Architecture in Sitka is dominated by the Russian Cathedral in the center of town. A fire destroyed it some years ago, but it has been rebuilt and is said to be exactly the same as the original building except for the clock. Bishop Innocent built the original clock for this cathedral with his own hands and it had a black face. Today's clock has a white face as a mark of respect for that very important Sitka pioneer citizen. |
