A Trip to
Australia and New Zealand
Aboard the MS Volendam
Every morning right from the first day on board we received a newspaper in time to read the latest news from home along with the morning coffee. The coffee was uniformly excellent and the news was uniformly terrible. Along with the news came a schedule of activities for the day, some information about that day's port of call, and menus for dinner.
Cocktail hour was whenever you wanted it to be, but early afternoon was Happy Hour in several of the Lounges.
The Ship's Store carried a variety of logo wear including a t-shirt that you may have already seen - "Dam Ships."
The administrative nerve center for the passengers was the Front Desk. It was staffed 24 hour a day and ensured that everything involving their on-board guests went well. They did their job so well that there was never any reason for us to visit them except to say hello in passing. This fellow was probably changing money - they took care of that as well.
