Next door to the very modern Elko City Hall is a verdant park and an excellent museum with numerous exhibits and a diverse assembly of memorabilia from Northeastern Nevada's past. The Northeastern Nevada Museum has an actual pony express station just outside it's front door. Inside there is a collection of fine art with western themes as well as beautiful Native American, Basque, and pioneer collections that contain some fairly unique items. Co-located with the museum is the rather amazing Wanamaker's Wild Animals of the World exhibit.
