Loa, Utah, serves as the county seat for Wayne County. It is located at the junction of State Highways 72 and 24 in the western part of the county. The town was named by Franklin W. Young for the Mauna Loa volcano in Hawaii. Young had been a Mormon missionary in the Hawaiian Islands before settling in Loa. |
