A Trip to Australia and New Zealand

We saw a lot of backpackers in Australia just as we had in New Zealand and we saw a lot of backpacker hostels and hotels as well. It is not a very scientific assessment, but our impression was that the New Zealanders fared slightly better than their Australian cousins at least as far as lodging goes. All of them carried what looked like their worldly possessions with them in those humongous packs and all of them had the ever present cell phone.
