Stillwater National Wildlife Refuge is located outside of Fallon, Nevada, in the western part of the state. Together with it's associated refuges, Fallon and Anaho Island, Stillwater National Wildlife Refuge comprises about 163,000 acres of wetland and upland habitats along with a variety of harsh desert lands. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service manages the refuge and lists more than 260 species of birds that are known to use it. It is estimated that a million migratory birds pass through each year. A large variety of other animals use the sanctuary as well. There is an auto tour route.
