San Juan County

Navajo Tribal Park

There is a small fee for access to the main part of the park and it is possible to drive your own vehicle around a rough dirt track or join one of several tours offered by professional tour operators. Either way, the views are spectacular and the road is dusty - very dusty. Some parts of the park require that visitors be accompanied by a Navajo guide and that involves additional fees. The closest accommodations are at the View Hotel inside the park and the Goulding Lodge a mile or so outside the park. Both operations have restaurants associated with them. Remember that you are on an Indian Reservation and alcoholic beverages are not available. Room reservations are definitely recommended. This is a very popular destination for people from all over the world.
